So I've been thinking recently about travel and some reasons behind it – so that they actually do at all.

People always is looking for the new "What's Next '- the latest gadget, the hottest fashion accessory, the idea that millions of dollar, even want be among the first to set foot in the wilderness: we are promiscuous, to say the least.

However, a new travel phenomenon has recently emerged to Tourist Trophy which the term has been coined to describe a new wave of tourists who make their business to venture to the farthest reaches of the planet in search of an experience relatively intact. Apparently, for this type of traveler, is largely so they can "tick It Off" a classic list of places you can then say that has visited.

My thoughts took me to the apparent human tendency to choose the illusion of the real, only in order to seem more impressive for those around us. People seem much more willing to embellish, lie, and construct their own reality for a particular purpose nowadays.

But why what is this? Is it because there are now more likely to be someone else with the invention of remote communication, or is it that there are now more insight of the need to create an alter ego so as to conceal any defects of character that we feel the same?

One example is the creation of social networks – sites like Facebook, Twitter and Second Life allow a person to be anyone who would choose to be, offering everyone the ability to iron at least some of their less desirable personality curves, allowing them to talk less affected by the very human condition that is the stereotype. We are free to assume the identity of any person we want superstar player school football, the straight-A student, for the good businessman just returned from trip he (or she) most recent holiday to say … the moon (which apparently will be the new 'what's coming – so the space in their trophy cabinet).

But what effect it is having on us as individuals – is relatively modern phenomenon of second-hand the realities causing an epidemic of identity crisis … all these lies … All this creative embellishment? Are we victims as to the social acceptance that we must acquire the prizes, not for pride, but by the illusion of pride?

Is it not better our fireplaces filled with photographs real rather than empty praise? … Which brings me back to this idea of "Tourist Trophy", people go to such lengths to impress the line between the truth and reality seems to be widening.

The irony of progress in communication technologies is that while we are apparently moving each closer to each other, in actual fact we are growing more and more separated.
