Why is a red ball used in cricket matches and test a target that is used in one day international?

Because some international matches one day they are played as day-night matches as white ball is easier to see. In the ICC Rules, Where day / night matches are programmed in a number of white balls will be used in all matches (including the 8-day matches). Each fielding team shall have a new ball for entries.
